Art direction
Since BloomOut is a casual strategy game that involves a fair bit of thinking and planning, we wanted players to feel relaxed and comfortable while playing the game. After exploring a few ideas, we decided to base the background themes on the four primary seasons - Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.
The final visual style of the game conveys a serene atmosphere, at once cosy and cheerful, where players can feel comfortable amidst the bright, fresh colours of Spring and Summer, and the muted, yet cosy atmosphere of Autumn and Winter.
Note: I sketched the concepts and provided art direction for the themes. My colleague created the final illustrations.

User interface and in-game sprites
The user interface and in-game sprites inherit the visual style of the themes created earlier. Whimsical, asymmetric icons create a sense of playfulness, and bright colours are used to draw attention to primary areas of interaction.
